Under Ohio law, qualifying medical conditions include all of the following: AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, cachexia, cancer, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, Crohn’s disease, epilepsy or another seizure disorder, fibromyalgia, glaucoma, hepatitis C, Huntington’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, pain that is either chronic and severe or intractable, Parkinson’s disease, positive status for HIV, post-traumatic stress disorder, sickle cell anemia, Spasticity, spinal cord disease or injury, terminal illness, Tourette syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and ulcerative colitis.

Steps To Obtain Medical Marijuana

In order to qualify for a medical marijuana card in Ohio, you only need to meet the following eligibility requirements: 

  • Be 18 years of age or older (Under 18 years of age must have assigned. caregiver who is at least 21 years of age)

  • Affected by one of the qualifying conditions (see below).

  • Be an Ohio resident with proof of residency.

  • Meet with a certified Ohio Marijuana Card doctor to obtain your card.

     

STEP 1: VISIT A PHYSICIAN WITH A CERTIFICATE TO RECOMMEND
Visit our Medical Marijuana The first step to become a medical marijuana patient is to visit a certified physician holding an active certificate to recommend (CTR) issued by the State Medical Board of Ohio. The certified physician will create your profile in the Patient & Caregiver Registry.


The Medical Board maintains a list of all Ohio certified physicians. The list can be found by clicking here.

The physician must confirm you have a qualifying condition to recommend the use of medical marijuana. By law, patients with one of the qualifying medical conditions may currently participate in Ohio’s medical marijuana program. 


STEP 2. GET REGISTERED
Once your physician has entered the patient recommendation into the registry, the patient will receive an email with a link to login to their Patient Registry where you will be able to complete your application and pay the fee (annual cost of a medical marijuana card is $.01 for patients and caregivers).

STEP  3. COME IN TO BEAR RIVER!
After receiving your Patient & Caregiver Registry card, you may purchase medical marijuana from our dispensary. Dispensary staff can help counsel you on the appropriate type and dose of product for your condition.

Just ensure to have an active registry card and an active physician recommendation in the registry. Also, bring your government-issued ID that matches the information in the registration system.

Step 4 Stay Compliant

An in-person visit with a certified physician is required at least once per year to update your physician recommendation
